The * New Creations Gospel Quartet * was formed by Carol Cowsert of Bruce, Ms. in 1981. There were many different members of this group to come and go over the years. The ones who were with the group the longest and there at the end were: Peggie Tutor of Pontotoc, Ms. - Alto and Manager; Sherry Wilson of New Albany, Ms. - Lead and Keyboard; Chuck Howell of Pontotoc, Ms. - Bass Singer; Benny Goodman of Oxford, Ms. - Baritone, Song Writer, and Sound & Equipment Engineer; and Dianne Bolen of Ecru, Ms., who played piano for us the last couple of years before we retired. The group retired in 1998 after 17 years of preforming in private churches, convention centers, some local tv stations and had the privilege of opening for many professional gospel groups who where visiting our area. A few of the groups who we had the privilege of opening for or performing with were: Chuck Wagon Gang, Gold City Quartet, The Kingsmen, The Bishops, The McKamey's, The Issacs, The Hinsons, The New Hinsons and many more, as well as many of our local groups who were dear friends over the many years. . We also participated in many benefits and fund raisers for non-profit organizations such as, Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, Toys for Tots, and for neighbors and families who were in need. The group never performed for money. We operated on our own personal funds and many churches would take up a love offering to help pay our expenses. The New Creations recorded 3 tapes over their career and several of our songs (above on juke box) we performed were written by Benny Goodman from 1984 to 1998. We would like to share some of these original songs before they become lost forever since there are no more tapes available. We hope you enjoy them. |
